We've got three weeks to go until MAGStock, so let's keep the announcements rolling! This time around, we've got some more musicians to announce, the return of DJ Island and some more updates on the cookoff.
We here at MAGStock believe that the only way you don’t play any MAG event is by showing up and not playing. In keeping with this fundamental idea, we would like to announce that we will be hosting DJ Island Open Mic times!
What’s a DJ Island you ask? It’s simple!
- We have an island down by the lake
- We put folks who want to DJ on it
Back at MAGStock 2, we had our music down by the lake in a large green army tent and a DJ who was very fast setup on the island the thursday before MAGStock where he laid down some tracks with a drum accompaniment as a storm scattered lighting in the far distance. Think that sounds cool? SO DO WE! That’s why this year we will be bringing back our Thursday night island dance party! The format will be an open mic: we’ll provide power and the noise makers, you provide the beats!
Time will be from 8-11pm (sorry, campground quiet hours start then) and we may also have to ask at times to turn it down (against our wishes, but venue happy first). We want everyone who wants a shot at performing to have it, so please come by and play! We’ll have signups at the event and beforehand by contacting email@example.com
If Jamming out on Thursday isn’t enough for you, let us know!
The "chilli" cookoff, as we've come to calling it now because we expect it will be a very chill competition and definitely not due to any spelling problems when we ordered the trophy, now officially has prizes! The top three contestants will be receiving very cool geeky chef's aprons, but the first place winner will receive that in addition to their very own trophy, a bag of dried ghost pepper, and a case of Surge soda! We'd also like to announce the judges: Bill Del Gallo (the man behind the prizes and party leader extraordinaire), Richard William Andrew Scott (or as you know him, Rez), Brandon Hood (chiptune chief and all around good guy) and Adam Seats (MAGFest's blogman and MAGStock virgin).
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN COMPETING IN THE "CHILLI" COOKOFF, PLEASE CONTACT BILL DEL GALLO AHEAD OF TIME. THIS IS AN AMENDMENT TO THE PREVIOUS INFORMATION. You can reach him via Facebook (you can find him through the MAGStock event page) or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here's what you've been waiting for: We've got two new musical acts to announce - DJ SUPER SONIC and Insane Ian!
Insane Ian loves video games. He plays them, he reviews them, he collects them, he even writes comedy songs about video games. He's gone so far as to combine reviews and comedy songs into his video game "Reviewsicals" on YouTube. Double I also is a member of the comedy music collective known as the Funny Music Project, or TheFuMP.com where he and other comedy musicians release two free comedy songs a week. One look at Ian's Bandcamp page makes it obvious that Insane Ian is a comedy music juggernaut that cannot be stopped. Recently, Ian hit a milestone in his career: he had the #1 most requested song of 2015 on “The Dr. Demento Show”, the name-mangling Brit-tribute, “Benedict Cumberbatch”, sitting firmly atop the Doctor's year-end Funny 25. With a sharp wit, sarcastic smirk, and a bit of self-deprecation, he's here to bring his unique sound to anyone who won't tell him to shut up...and even a few that will.
That's all for now, kids. Keep your eyes peeled!
