Repping the D.M.V. (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area, the Pixel Groove Guild is a high-energy, 5-piece jazz fusion band that reimagines the vibrant sounds of video game music through a modern musical lens. We blend the canon of modern music genres wrapped in idioms of jazz. Our goal is to bring fresh, dynamic performances that captivate audiences and inject new life into beloved VGM soundtracks.
From the nostalgic tunes of Super Mario and Sonic to contemporary video games, we transform these iconic pieces through each band member’s unique lens, taking heavy sonic inspiration from music genres each of us have found meaningful throughout our lives. All of these elements capitulate to the spirit of Jazz. We present music which incorporates sections of improvisation, within the form of the compositions, ensuring no two performances are alike.
