Whose Roll is it Anyway?

image (1).png

Whose Roll Is It Anyway was born of a profoundly twisted love of tabletop role-playing games and improvisational theatre (that's how you know we're all well adjusted adults with healthy relationships and zero emotional baggage). We're here to drink, be merry, and stumble our way through an adventure that the audience creates for us. Just a bunch of 30-somethings from Baltimore who have way too much time on their hands and like to dress up and talk in funny voices. Have we mentioned that we are totally well adjusted humans and this is NOT a cry for help or validation? Great! Let's roll some dice.

Wes Johnson

Image from iOS.jpg

Wes Johnson sleeps rather soundly for a murderer. Or wait, maybe that’s one of his characters. The lines tend to blur.

Most recently, Wes wandered the wastelands of West Virginia as Protectron Robots in “FALLOUT 76.” In “FALLOUT 4,” he dispensed truly bad Baseball history as Moe Cronin, Protectron-ing, and dispensing JUSTICE as the voice of The Silver Shroud. He had fun in “Nuka-World” reprising the Protectrons and bringing newer models to life.

In other realities, Wes was the guy who welcomed you off the boat in Bethesda Softwork’s “MORROWIND.” He was both the Criminal Scum (Lucien Lachance) and the Guards who arrested them in “OBLIVION.” He dealt in cheese and insanity as a Daedric Price of Madness named SHEOGORATH. Wes returned to Tamriel and the Elder Scrolls series in “SKYRIM”, reprising Sheo, Lucien, and Hermaeus Mora. He reprises his Arena Announcer from Oblivion and Sheogorath himself in ELDER SCROLLS LEGENDS.

In previous Fallout wasteland journeys, Wes stole your kills as Fawkes, swayed you to to do evil as Mr Burke, and bitched a lot as Scribe Bigsley in in “FALLOUT 3.” He fought famous Starship Captains as Klingons in “STAR TREK: LEGACY and CONQUEST, and has been proudly UNLEASHING THE FURY and calling goals for the STANLEY CUP CHAMPION WASHINGTON CAPITALS since the turn of the Century.

Wes has been SEEN as well as heard in feature films such as John Waters’ “A Dirty Shame,” Chris Rock’s “Head of State,” “The Invasion,” “For Richer or Poorer,” and has made appearances on HBO’s “VEEP,” “The Wire,” and NBC’s “Homicide: Life on the Street.” he recently filmed a TV sitcom pilot with the great Ed Asner.

A comedian and impressionist, Wes worked morning radio at WHFS-FM, was the comedy co-host on a national radio show with the late Wolfman Jack, and has performed songs on “The Doctor Demento Show.” He also fought crime... with his voice... as the series announcer for “America’s Most Wanted.” In the end, Wes is happiest about his role as husband to Kim and father to Ben, Sam and Max. He DOES NOT actually live in a mansion, but fakes it well on YouTube. He is owned by a spoiled Chi-weenie.

Mike Rosson

Mike will discuss his many roles, and the history of Ukuleles: their charm, history and their disparagement.

Jim Foronda is a Texas-based voice actor. A former ad copywriter, Jim began voice acting while writing commercials for Hasbro Toys, occasionally being tasked with voicing characters like Optimus Prime and Mr. Potato Head in toy ads. Since then, he’s been all manner of person, monster, robot, and… well, anything… in games like the Borderlands franchise, Battleborn, SMITE, Killing Floor 2, Hero Academy, and Dungeon Boss. Anime-wise, he can be heard in Black Clover, My Hero Academia, That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime, BEM, Fullmetal Alchemist, Fairy Tail, One Piece, and much more.

In his spare time, Jim enjoys photography, games of the video and tabletop variety, saving for occasional trips to Japan, building LEGO stuff, and working on a novel that he will probably never, ever finish. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 8 years old, Jim wears an insulin pump. By medical definition that totally makes him an actual, for real cyborg. He has yet to jump over a house or lift an automobile with his bare hands.

Latin Dancing for Nerds

latin_dancing_for_nerds_bio_pic.jpg

Latin Dancing for Nerds’ mission: bring Latin dance to a group of humans who want to learn how to Lead or Follow in a social setting. Dancing is a skill! And like with any skill, you must level it up.

We are excited to be adding Salsa lessons this year! The lessons are always beginner-friendly and, regardless of who you're cosplaying as, all you need to pick is one of two roles/classes: Lead or Follow. We will be listening to remixes that fit the mood, as well as traditional Bachata and Salsa tracks.

Steph & Aldo have been teaching Bachata lessons at Magfest since 2018. Steph won the Female Instructor of the Year at the DCBX Awards in 2019 and she teaches at events all over the DC area. Aldo has been teaching for 5 years and is now focusing on Latin Ballroom dances. Maybe we will dance Rumba someday!
