Did you know MAGFEST has a blog? We are seeking future MAGES guest blog articles, and we’d love for you to consider submitting a proposal!

Like The Music and Gaming Educational Symposium division of MAGfest, the MAGES Library blog is dedicated to an accessible, intellectually stimulating conversation about video games. The MAGES blog functions as a year-round extension of the MAGES panels, allowing for continued conversations on why we love the medium of video games, and what makes them so engaging, effective, and interesting to study. Our articles are structured to represent views from a range of perspectives, including: academia, established industry, indie developers, cultural commentators, and an engaged and informed audience. We also publish interviews with prominent people in the gaming community.

We’re looking for ~1000 word articles on specific topics in gaming. Try to avoid generalized themes like “nostalgia” or “agency,” but try to hone-in on a more specific thesis (e.g., a game’s specific implementation of nostalgia, or a specific type of agency a player values). It’s good for the article to focus around defending a specific argument. We strongly recommend you visit our previously published articles at: https://super.magfest.org/mages-blog to get a sense of what we’re looking for. Feel free to either send a proposed topic or a completed draft, as well as your background in writing and/or games. We’d be looking for articles to publish starting in late 2020 and beyond. Feel free to contact me at: mkuyatt@megedenbooks.com with proposals/articles or any questions.
